You may be living under a rock if you have not heard Don Kweli’s Happy Life song which has become the new anthem in Ghana. Many seems to fall in love with the song after listening and the song has fast trended in less than a week after it’s release.

The song was featured by Kofi Kinaata who sang the hook and most of his verse in the Nzema language much to the amazement of many.

Many have wondered how Don Kweli was able to get Kofi Kinaata to feature on the song with many suggesting that Don Kweli may have paid a hefty amount of money to the fante rap god before laying his verse on the song.

Over the Weekend on Saturday, Don Kweli was in the studios of Hope FM and revealed in an interview with DJ Scottmore that Kofi Kinaata never made him pay a dime as speculated by many.

He said Kofi Kinaata featured on the song out of kind heartedness and he himself (Don Kweli) was left in a state of shock when Kofi Kinaata told him of his intentions not to take a dime from him.

He said, “I was surprised when Kofi Kinaata decided to feature on my song for free and further rejected a GH¢1,000.00 offer I sent through Mobile Money to be used on fuel during the recording sessions. He transferred the money back to me the same day and I was left stunned.”

Narrating how he got into contact with Kinaata, he revealed, “When i released my Akasi song in February, he called me and gave a thumbs of the deep lyrical content I produced in the song. I later spoke to him about featuring on my next song and he accepted”

He indicated that he owes Kofi Kinaata a lot much more than money and prayed for heavenly blessings from God for him.
